AFTER FILLING THEIR plates and settling back down at the table, they continued to reminisce about the old days.

"Do you remember when I first took over the team?" Ed asked, chuckling when he looked at Cal, whose face turned a little red at the memory.

"I do." Sam snickered when he looked at his friend. "Cal wasn’t the only one who thought our fun on the field was over when a cop took over the team though."

"I think you're being a little generous calling it a team," Ed said. "You guys were the worst in the league that summer. Not that it was your fault. I don't know who recruited the first guy but he had no business even saying the word softball much less trying to coach a bunch of kids."

Nods of agreement went round the table and they were all lost in thought again.
